As a Commodity Manager, you will utilize wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership. You will be responsible for all aspects of strategic supplier development and ongoing performance management to support Calix technology and business needs. We’re a fast moving, innovative company and you will develop and execute Calix’s material acquisition strategy and reduce total cost of ownership. You will be expected to lead and participate on technology discussions and drive our critical strategic roadmap with our partners, as well as understand and resolve complex issues that put company objectives at risk. You will be a key part of an end-to-end supply chain team that drives continuous improvement and ensures operational excellence in support of Calix’s rapid growth.


  • Represent Calix’s needs to the industry and drive supplier partnerships to enable aligned investments.
  • Documents and proactively communicates IC and strategic component sourcing strategies to stakeholders.
  • Lead commercial related activities including RFI/RFQs, SOW, etc, and perform commodity management role in activities lead by other functions to support NPI.
  • Creates, negotiates, implements, and manages long-term purchase /supply agreements with critical suppliers. and cross-functional team members to drive best sourcing decisions based on TCO.
  • Understands current market pricing and dynamics of a competitive landscape.
  • Escalation point for all delivery, quality, supplier support, etc. related issues.
  • Develops reporting that will provide insight and direction about current commodity market conditions and provide recommendations about optimal strategies to maximize margin and continuity of supply.
  • Identifies and coordinates new projects and savings opportunities.
  • Measures and holds Calix commodity suppliers to defined standards around performance (Technology, Quality, Responsiveness, Delivery, Cost, NPI).
  • Establish, lead and foster relationships with all stakeholders to ensure their needs from a commodity and sourcing standpoint are being met.


  • 10+ years of experience in Supply Management with focus on IC strategic sourcing and supplier development.
  • Demonstrated ability to build credibility with, interact with, and influence suppliers, customers, and key stakeholders; Ability to build strong relationships.
  • Well organized with solid judgment; able to multitask and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Desire to identify continuous improvement opportunities and lead projects to make improvements to processes, procedures, etc.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders including executive leadership.
  • Global supply chain experience working with different culturally diverse teams.

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering
