This role will be primarily focused on Saudi Arabia and secondarily focused on the Gulf Region and Egypt.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior Sales Engineer to help drive Calix opportunities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Gulf region and Egypt. The sales engineer is responsible for pre-sales technical engagement with our customers and partners, performing product and technical presentations, and network design. This will require strong capabilities to interact and influence senior technical staff and management within Calix’s telecommunications operator customers. This also involves demonstration of Calix’s product capabilities, and assistance with lab and field trials. Candidate must have a strong technical background and knowledge of telecommunications, Voice, Data, and Video networking, and cloud software models. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively work with multiple audiences and levels within both internal and external organizations are required and essential. The successful candidate will drive the technical agenda and influence decision makers at Calix customers and prospects.

 

  • Pre and Post Sales technical support of Calix’s network solutions
  • Assist in the preparation of responses to RFPs
  • Prepare system quotes for customers
  • Make technical sales-oriented presentations to customer's technical staff and senior management
  • Assist customers and resellers in configuring and testing products and networks in lab and field trials
  • Provide expertise on particular technical issues or specific network architectures and applications
  • Work with customers and resellers to design and architect network solutions to their access applications needs
  • Conduct technical customer training sessions
  • Capture, articulate, and prioritize customer requirements and share with Product Management
  • Provide input to strategic sales and marketing plans and achieve revenue targets for region
  • Provide competitive feedback

Qualifications

  • BSEE/BSCS/BSCS or related Engineering field is required. 
  • 8+ years experience in telecommunications with technical working experience in the application, installation and operation of networking equipment at IT/Telecom equipment companies, and experience in carriers’ networking solutions/ applications with proven record of Proof-of-Concept (POC) testing 
  • IP networking (Layer 2 and 3) knowledge, including implementation of WAN, LAN, VLAN, VoIP, APIs, etc., is essential and required. 
  • Experience with “home networking” solutions and technologies desired.
  • Experience and technical knowledge on Optical networking, Carrier Ethernet, WiFi and PON technologies is a must
  • Familiarity with virtual machines, NFV and SDN concepts, SaaS and experience with salesforce.com are desired
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills with proficiency in the use of word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software are required
  • Candidates must be competitive, cooperative, and work well with customers both internal and external
  • Fluent in English communications (speaking, writing, and reading)
  • Experience with local and regional carriers/service providers like STC, Zain, Etisalat, … an advantage
  • At least 30% travel throughout the Middle East region, plus to the US.
