This Senior Sales Engineer will be focused on providing world class pre-sales customer engagement, influencing our present and future customers and offering world class technical sales support for Calix’s growing list of large telecommunications operators across the globe.  

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for pre-sales technical engagement with one of our Tier 1 Service Provider customers. The role includes network design, technical presentations and hands-on lab certification.   This will require strong capabilities to interact and influence senior technical staff and management within Calix’s customers.  This role also involves demonstration of Calix’s product capabilities, and assistance with lab and field trials. Candidate should have a strong technical background and knowledge of telecommunications Voice, Data, and Video networking. Strong interpersonal skills, proven track record of synthesizing and interpreting complex issues into solutions and ability to effectively work with multiple audiences and levels across organizations are required.

  • Pre and Post Sales technical support of Calix’s network solution
  • Assist in the preparation of responses to RFPs
  • Prepare system quotes for customers 
  • Perform technical sales-oriented presentations to customer's technical staff and senior management
  • Assist customer in configuring and testing products and networks in lab and field trials
  • Provide expertise on technical issues or specific network architectures and applications
  • Work with customer to design and architect network solutions.
  • Conduct technical customer training sessions

Qualifications

  • BSEE/BSCS desired
  • 50% domestic travel
  • 7+ years’ experience in telecommunications
  • Experience supporting a large service provider in a pre-sales or network engineering capacity
  • Demonstrated skill of partnering with teams cross functionally
  • Excellent and effective presentation, written communication and public speaking skills.
  • Deep understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 Access/Edge networking technologies
  • Experience with Fiber and Copper based Access systems
  • Working knowledge of Subscriber Management, BRAS, or BNG systems
  • Expertise with Software Defined Networking (SDN) and industry open networking efforts.
