This Senior Sales Engineer will be focused on providing world class pre-sales customer engagement, influencing our present Tier 2 National Accounts and offering world class technical sales support for Calix’s growing list of large telecommunications operators across the globe.  


This position is responsible for pre-sales technical engagement with Tier 2 National Accounts. This position will requires product and technical presentations, including network design and the ability to interact and influence senior technical staff and management within Calix’s Tier 2 National Accounts.  This role also involves demonstration of Calix’s product capabilities, assistance with lab and field trials, close interaction with architecture and planning organizations and intimate understanding of long term strategic business and network evolution plans. Candidates should have a strong technical background and knowledge of telecommunications Voice, Data, and Video networking. Strong interpersonal skills, proven track record of synthesizing and interpreting complex issues into solutions and ability to effectively work with multiple audiences and levels across organizations are required.

  • Pre and Post Sales technical support of Calix’s network solution
  • Cultivate customer relationships and drive technical account strategies
  • Influence others’ decisions and be adept at simplifying Calix technology for them
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the Calix product portfolio and promote optical solutions
  • Demonstrate thought leadership and influence customer direction
  • Assist in the preparation of responses to RFPs
  • Prepare system quotes for customers 
  • Deliver technical sales-oriented presentations to customer's technical staff and senior management
  • Assist customers and resellers in configuring and testing products and networks in lab and field trials
  • Provide expertise on technical issues or specific network architectures and applications
  • Work with customers and resellers to design and architect network solutions to their access applications needs
  • Conduct technical customer training sessions


  • BSEE/BSCS desired
  • Experience working with large complex accounts
  • 5+ years’ experience in telecommunications 
  • Experience partnering with teams cross functionally with in depth product knowledge for continuous improvement on education of products and demos
  • Excellent and effective presentation, written communication and public speaking skills are required
  • Working knowledge of FTTH, IP, SDN/NFV and L2/L3 network architectures
  • Highly preferred knowledge of BNG and subscriber management
  • Highly preferred knowledge of BSS/OSS systems and integration
  • Experience working in complex lab environments and driving product/software adoption
  • 80% domestic travel
